A Home to Improve

Sorry for not posting in o-so-long...oh wait...I'm the only one that reads this.
Than....I forgive you!

We have been busy bees with home improvement projects. I don't want to post them all at once though. 1. Some are not totally complete. 2. Others were totally screwed up and now need to be re-done. 3. I need more subjects to post about.

So today I'm going to post about the exciting subject of baseboards!
When we moved into our 1940's California Bungalow, the basboards were as old as the house. These 1 inch tall pieces of wood didn't do much for the house, and even sometimes highlighted the imperfections of the house. In som areas the baseboards didn't touch the wood floor! Yikes.

So a few weekends ago, my in-laws came up to LA and helped us take on this huge project. Jim is super handy with midder saw (which apparently you use for a project like this). For $250 we made our house look 50% better.

Check out some of the pics as our project took shape!

Wallpaper

Jim and I thought we had decided on the perfect wallpaper for our room, but we decided to give the wallpaper books one more look over. Not within an hour were we completely confused. We ended up taking several books home with us to check out against our duvet and the light of the room.
We have already taken those back....and haven't made a decision.
In the quest for the perfect wallpaper, I came across some really cool websites.

Design Your Wall is one of my favorites because it's really easy to navigate. The Sisal Grasscloth is our first choice at this point in time.

The Mirror Effect Foil looks pretty rad..but it's hard for me to believe that it looks that much like a mirror. We were thinking we could put this mirror-like wallpaper within the squares our bedroom closet doors. If we could cut them out and put them within the 3 large squares on each door....that would look pretty sick. Do you believe the mirror effect, though?

Neisha Crosland's Beaded Strip Wallpaper is our other top favorite. Our room is on the smaller side, so I'm afraid it will look too dark and small....but I love vibey rooms! Especially when it's the bedroom ;)

More cool wallpaper sites to come.....

Baby Baker

My very good friend Raya just had her baby boy, Baker! I'm so anxious to see her and visit her. I am so proud of her, and I can't wait to hear all about it!

I don't know the procedure on visiting new mommies and babies. I know for me, I would love some time for the threesome - Mommy, Daddy and Baby. I guess I'll just patiently wait for the Green Light.

We love you, Raya, Forest and Baker! xoxo

Here are some ADORABLE booties by Heather Bailey that I'm going to try and make for our new angel!
